40 DAYS FOR LIFE
40 Days for Life is an internationally coordinated 40-day campaign done every spring and fall to unite the world in peaceful prayer to end abortion.
Individuals, churches, families, and groups are invited to stand united in peaceful prayer outside of the largest Planned Parenthood in the Western Hemisphere (4600 Gulf Fwy) right here in Houston for 40 days.
Since 2006, the Houston Coalition for Life has organized the longest-running 40 Days for Life campaign in the world.
Abortion may be illegal in Texas, but Planned Parenthood is still referring women out of state and often providing them transportation or covering the cost of their abortion through several different abortion funds. According to pro-lifers in states where abortion is still legal, it is much harder to reach out to women who have traveled from another state since they’ve already invested so much time and resources to getting there. This is why it is so important to have a peaceful, prayerful presence outside former abortion facilities right here in Texas.
Our goal is to get a different church or group to sponsor one of each of those 40 days and cover it in prayer from 7AM - 7PM.
The dates for the 2024 Fall 40 Days for Life campaign are September 25th - November 3rd. If you are interested in becoming a Day Captain and leading your church or group to sponsor a day in prayer, please join our upcoming training:

There are only "5 rules" for the sidewalk:
- Do not park or walk on Planned Parenthood property or any other private property.
- If anyone approaches you, respond with the love of Christ.
- If you want to hold a sign, please request one provided by Houston Coalition for Life.
- Please focus on staying in a mode of prayer while you are out there.
- Please sign our Statement of Peace - English - Spanish
If you would like to get your church or group involved, you can become a Day Captain – meaning you’ll be the coordinator for your church or group to make sure each hour from 7AM - 7PM is covered with prayer.

Why 40 Days?
God consistently uses the 40-day timeframe throughout salvation history to transform His people: Noah and the Flood, Moses on Mt. Sinai, and Jesus in the desert.
What do I pray for?
Our basic goal is to pray for a peaceful end to abortion. You can pray for the women facing a crisis pregnancy, the preborn children, the conversion of abortionists and others employed there, the passing of pro-life laws across our country and around the world, and the growth of a culture of life.
What do I bring?
We can provide you with a sign if you wish, or you can bring a Bible or other prayer materials you’d like.

How long should I be out there?
Most people will stand on the sidewalk for about an hour, but you may pray for as long or as short as you’d like.
Is it safe to go alone?
Praying on the sidewalk is largely safe, but we always encourage people to pray with at least one other person just to protect themselves against false accusations or potentially heated interactions.
Do I talk to the women going in?
Unless you are a trained Sidewalk Counselor, we please ask you to remain in prayer. If you are interested in becoming a Sidewalk Counselor, training sessions are offered every month. Contact

Where do I park?
DO NOT park on Planned Parenthood property or any other private property. For the Planned Parenthood on I45, please parallel park along Gulf Crest or along Eleanor Tinsley Way.
