The Planned Parenthood empire has been built and sustained in large part by money from the U.S. taxpayers.
In a July 27, 2001 Letter to the Editor of the Bryan-College Station Eagle, one of Planned Parenthood's outspoken local contributors falsely stated that Planned Parenthood provides services, "with no use of federal or Texas tax dollars." Nothing could be further from the truth.
Nationally, thirty percent ($202.7 million) of Planned Parenthood's income ($672.6 million) in its 2000/01 fiscal year came from government grants or contracts.
The local Planned Parenthood receives an even larger percentage (42%) of its income, or $4.62 million, each year directly from your tax dollars, according to their federal tax return.
Regrettably, people of faith have been forced to underwrite Planned Parenthood, the leading abortion provider in America, to the tune of $2.2 billion of taxes since 1987, resulting in $454 million of profit for PPFA from 1987 to 2001!
Planned Parenthood netted a $125.8 million profit nationally in 1998-1999, a year they took in $176.5 million of federal tax money.
In a recent direct mail campaign, Gloria Feldt (former President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America) sent out a "Briefing Sheet" advocating that the government should funnel substantially more money to Planned Parenthood.
