Now What ImageNOW WHAT?

Roe v. Wade was overturned on June 24, 2022. This decision set into place a trigger law that went into effect on August 25, 2022, making abortion illegal in Texas. Finally! Roe is gone!

You might be asking yourself… Now what?

The overturning of Roe v. Wade is a HUGE accomplishment in the pro-life movement and deserves celebration for the countless lives it will save.

However… our work is far from over.

Now is the time to step up and put actions to our words.

Now is the time to provide support to these women in crisis.

Now is the time to make abortion not only illegal, but unthinkable.

Crisis pregnancies will unfortunately never go away, and more women than ever will need the love and support of their communities to help her feel confident in choosing life.

Here are four things you should do now that abortion is illegal in Texas:

  • Educate Yourself!

One of the main reasons Roe was able to be passed into law in 1973 was because lies were spread across the media virtually unchallenged. No one knew the facts, and no one questioned what they heard on the news.

Roe survived almost 50 years because the abortion industry disguised the truth of abortion with flowery language like “choice,” “women’s rights,” and “reproductive healthcare.”

The best way to counter these lies is to get educated on the truth.

The easiest way to get started is to listen to the arguments made by abortion advocates. Figure out the problems with their arguments and formulate reasonable pro-life responses.

Our How to Defend Life page, lists many common arguments used by abortion supporters along with rational pro-life responses.

  • Get on the Sidewalk!

Unfortunately, abortion being illegal has not stopped crisis pregnancies from happening in Texas. Women are still visiting former abortion facilities like Planned Parenthood to get referrals out of state for an abortion.

Because of the amount of time, energy, and resources invested into just getting to another state, these women will be far less likely to listen to pro-lifers in other states. We need to reach these women here at home before they are sent elsewhere. By then it will probably be too late. When we have a loving presence outside these facilities, women realize they are NOT alone.

  • Spread Culture of Life!

Right now, our society values putting oneself over all others. Social media has fed into this environment of narcissism and instant gratification. We live in a time where truth is considered intolerant, bigoted, or hateful.

The abortion industry operates under the cover of euphemisms and misrepresentation of facts. This has led to the deaths of over 63 million innocent human beings in the US alone. Knowing this, the very least we can do is call out these lies when confronted with them.

It is important to approach these situations with love and patience. No one will listen if they think you don’t care. Take time to listen to what is concerning the person you’re speaking with and address those concerns clearly and compassionately.

It is so important for pro-lifers to be seen proudly defending life. The abortion industry has had control of the narrative for far too long, painting us as hateful religious zealots. When we make ourselves visible and coherent, more will begin to realize that they’ve been lied to about the pro-life movement. More will give life a chance.

If we keep to ourselves, abortion will never end. The ultimate goal of the pro-life movement is not to make abortion illegal; it is to make abortion unthinkable.
