While the 53rd Anniversary of Roe v. Wade was overshadowed by the recent winter storm that affected the majority of the country, we must never forget the terrible implications Roe has had on our culture and on more than 65,000,000 million innocent lives. At Houston Coalition for Life, we continue to see first-hand the impact of 50 years of an abortion-as-the-law-of-the-land culture has had on generations of women and the fathers of their baby. Not only have we seen women and their partners turn a blind eye to the evil of abortion, but we have also witnessed an increased hardening of hearts to some women in unplanned and crisis pregnancies.
The Texas Catholic Herald recently published an article by Jo Ann Zuñiga entitled Abortions not dropping despite new laws due to out-of-state procedures, pills. As the title suggests, Zuñiga lays out the ways in which abortion in Texas has not ended. She cites the increase of abortions across state lines and most especially through chemical abortions via RU-486 being sent to women through the mail - still - even after the Woman and Child Protection Act that was passed in Texas in December 2025.
This article reflects what we have heard and seen by our clients, many who have had abortions either across state lines or via the abortion pill that was mailed to them without a doctor's oversight. We receive calls almost weekly where a woman tells us she aborted her child through pills she received through the mail and wants an ultrasound to make sure she is no longer pregnant. We believe many of these women are being coached by Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion organizations to call pregnancy centers to get free help because they do not provide follow up ultrasounds.
This, of course, further proves that the abortion industry does not truly care about women and their health. We welcome the opportunity to talk with these women to share the truth about abortion and introduce information about post-abortive healing. We are deeply grateful for every law that protects innocent life. However, our pro-life work is far from over as we must work to create a culture that recognizes the sanctity of life at every stage and protects every innocent life from the moment of conception until natural death.
